With copper prices soaring to unimaginable highs, alternative plumbing solutions are growing in popularity. It seems poor water quality too has made an impact on plumbing system design as well, for now public water and well water seem to degrade both copper and CPVC systems. Almost everyone is familiar with the Cape Cod style home for you will find them all over the place. Small floor plan with a lot of usable space at a great value! Hard to imagine that they are one of the toughest homes to make comfortable but since most were built over 50 years ago, here is a great article on WHY they pose such a challenge to our industry. We’ve all seen the cans of “Great Stuff” at the local home stores for sealing cracks, windows, or whatever you can imagine but the buzz is using spray foam to insulate your home, walls, ceilings, and attics! I found this article to be very interesting filling in some of the grey areas that i was not aware of.
Changes in the economy have had the surprising effect of making the manual trades more attractive as careers.
